Forget Dragons, It’s the Year of the GMO

What’s the big deal? This year Washington and Oregon will fight the steamroller of factory farming and processed food with a campaign to label our food as ‘non-GMO’ or ‘may contain GMO.’ Why should we care? Many of the processes used by the large agri-chem companies are not properly tested. We can make excuses like it hasn’t hurt anyone yet but, on the face of it, we don’t even know if  that’s true. Long-term epidemiological studies which are used to find links with cancer for instance, have never been done.

Its a simple request I think. Just let us know what’s in our food. Especially if there’s fish in my tomato (they really do that!). It won’t actually cost them anything, nor us. (see below) The question is what are they afraid of.
